Just because I was bored........... one of those really, really, really lazy days so I was like wtf... just do something and it ended up being this. I don't like it, but at least it got me doing something. Besides, I'm feeling all alien-y after seeing krypto-NATE domi-NATE!

10 vs 23

I got bored of the list for a while and decided to mess around... for about 5 hours. And this is what I came up with. Photo courtesy of Shirdoo, there's epic battle between #10 and #23.
There are a lot of things that I don't like about this image, but many things that i like. I like how it's incorporated many of the techniques that I've learned, including ones that i will. I like how it's got the teammates. And I like how this is only the start. This is where I see my photoshop career going, but much better. This is just some amateur junk I put together, but when I really get going, i'll spend days and weeks on a one image perfecting each part. Hopefully.

6. Scanline Text

This looks easy but it took me longer to do than any of the other ones. Man, the tutorial sucked. It was easy step-by-step if you had his version and everything. But I have a different - i think newer - version of photoshop so some of the things he said didn't work out. And he didn't explain it well enough so that I can adapt. For example, he was trying to make a new layer and then change that layer into the mask layer of another layer. And I remember being able to do this with older photoshop, but for some reason i couldn't do it with this one. And it took me forever to figure out how (literally, actually). So I just did it my own way with a screen blend.

5. Transformer text effect

Transformers - more than meets the eye. Simple text effect right? Right. It was really simple. And I have to give props to the dood who made this tutorial. He made it very easy to follow and also taught me a lot of neat shortcuts.

Actually, there's a flaw. If you look at the bigger version, you see that the corners of the letters are jagged! This is actually because the instructions are for a smaller size, and if you use arrow keys to move in photoshop, the distance moved is not absolute but depends on how zoomed you are. In the case of this 1680x1050 file (size of my desktop), I had to zoom out a lot to see the whole thing. So this caused the move to be relatively large, not that I could notice it zoomed out.

Usually I would've skimmed for these types of things before I publish or go back and fix it, but nah. This was simple and short, and it's not too bad. So let's keep it and learn from it. Plus it's pretty cool jagged.

4. Professional Laptop Ad

This one was a lot harder than it looks. Actually, It wasn't hard, just extremely tedious. There has to be a better way to make a checker board than by deleting every other square. Here:

3. Space scene

Ah. Nothing like 4am photoshoppin'. And yea, I skipped #2. I want to spend a little more time on that one; put in my own personal touches and all. But here's #3:

3. Space scene
Click for full

Not bad. Personally, they instructions for this one was awful. I couldn't figure out why most of the things weren't working, so i just did it my complicated-ass way. it took twice as long as it should have. And it's 4am! I hope the other ones aren't this hard.

1. Aurora eclipse effect

Here's the first one! I decided to start with dark and futuristic effects because I found this page serendipitously and it persuaded me to do this whole piece. So here's number one:

1. Aurora eclipse effect

It looks nice! I'm a bit disappointed that I couldn't figure out how to use the texture/grain effect. It was greyed out and I didn't know what was wrong. Hopefully I'll figure this out in the future
